Services at Medpark Hearing Center

While we do fit patients with hearing aids, that's only one small part of what we provide to keep your whole hearing system working smoothly so you can get on with enjoying your life. Partnering with Dr. Tomaneng's ENT clinic allows us to offer a range of medical hearing services above and beyond what most hearing centers can provide. And we'll never push anything on you; we treat every patient like a member of our family. You and your hearing are our priority, and we respect your decisions about your own hearing situation.

We cover everything from hearing loss prevention to hearing aid maintenance in one friendly and convenient location.

Hearing Protection

The best way to treat hearing loss is to prevent it. We can make custom earplugs for people who are often exposed to loud noises, like construction, factory work, or live music. We also work with musicians to create custom in-ear monitors.

Hearing Aid Fitting

We'll only recommend hearing aids if we have determined that they would help you, if we cannot solve your hearing loss in other ways first. We carry hearing aids from all major manufacturers, and we have the expertise to find the right hearing aid for you. Our recommendations are based on our understanding of your hearing loss, your lifestyle, and your preferences.

Cerumen (Ear Wax) Removal

Keeping your ears clean and free of blockage can make a big difference in your hearing. Sometimes all you need to hear again is not a hearing aid but a simple removal of earwax accumulation. Even if you do wear hearing aids, you'll probably need your ears and your hearing aids cleaned of wax every so often. We are happy to take care of this so your ears are in the best shape they can be.

Free Follow-Up Visits & Repairs

All patients who purchase hearing aids from Medpark Hearing Center can come in for free follow-up visits for the life of the hearing instruments. It doesn't matter how often you come to see us; you won't pay a cent more.

If we can repair your hearing aids ourselves (and we often can), we will do it for free.

Diagnostics Services

  • Audiological Exam: A test of how sensitive your hearing is at different frequencies, commonly known as a "tone test." When people think of a hearing test, this is often what comes to mind.
  • Speech Discrimination Test: An examination that determines not how well you hear words but how well you understand them. If you have hearing loss but score well on a speech discrimination test, you are likely to experience better results from a hearing aid. (Hearing aids will amplify sound, but they don't necessarily improve the way your brain processes what you hear.)
  • Otoacoustic Emissions Exam: An examination that determines inner ear health; this can be an early means of detecting hearing loss that other tests may not pick up on.
  • Otolaryngological Exam: A full ENT examination not just of your ears but of your face, throat, nose, and neck. Every part of this system can affect your hearing, so it's important that we have an understanding of the whole picture.
  • Otological Exam: A fundamental test that allows us to determine what kind of hearing loss you have, what has caused it, and what can be done to treat it. This is usually the first test we give if you come see us about hearing loss.
  • Tympanogram: A test of how sound travels from the eardrum to the middle ear system by measuring air pressure within the ear.

What Can You Expect From an Office Visit?

When you come for a hearing appointment, we always explain every step of the process because it's essential that you are comfortable and feel in control of your hearing treatment. During your first appointment, we'll ask you about your hearing history and any hearing loss you may have noticed. Then we'll begin a series of tests. This includes an audiogram tone test, but it's more than that. We know you spend more time listening to other people speaking than to tones, so we'll conduct tests to determine how well you hear and understand speech.

By the time we've finished our tests, we can tell how severe your hearing loss is and its type. We'll also gather information about your lifestyle and what you might need out of hearing treatment. Based on everything we've learned, we will make a recommendation to help with your hearing loss. If it's medically treatable, we can help you make an appointment with Dr. Tomaneng to take care of whatever might be getting in the way of your hearing. We only recommend hearing aids or other hearing instruments if we truly believe that they are a good solution for you. We aren't salespeople. We approach treatment from a whole-person perspective and are focused on aural rehabilitation, which hearing aids are only one part of.
